Humpback Whales

Humpback Whales are a type of a Baleen whale. Baleen whales have long filters hanging from the insides of their jaws. These filters are called baleen, and they look like giant combs.

Their birth weight is 2,000 pounds. Their birth measurement is 15 feet.

Their life expectancy is 30 to 80 years old. Their adult weight is 106 pounds. Their adult measurement is 50 feet.

My animal is a social. There flippers help them move place to place. Humpback Whales eat krill. It catches it by opening it's big mouthful of water and closing it's mouth. The water comes out of it's blowhole.

Our animal is friendly to humans if humans are nice to them. Our animal is hunted by humans for flesh and blubber for warmness. 2,000 pounds = 1 ton. A large whale may take in 4 tons of food a day. That equals 8,000 pounds a day.
